Long Electric Routes

Sponsored by

Our long Swytch Electric routes are between 30km and 50km. They explore right out to St Fillans and Gleneagles. There are numerous lovely stops on the way with our favourites being Liam’s Café/shop at St Fillans and Gloagburn on the back road to Perth. Take a chance to stop and enjoy the river, fields and mountains that make this one of the best cycling destinations.

The Wee Dancer
Take the Crieff to Perth back road to Balgowan and turn up the hill. A few turns and through the trees brings you to a lovely open area. Look out for the unusual goats just short of Findo Gask Church. Turn right at the crossroads and enjoy the spin to Kinkell Bridge and onwards to Strathallan Airfield and Muthill. Take the Golf course road past Drummond Estate (Great Gardens) and return to Crieff.

Skedaddle!
With the aim of making sure we don’t miss out on some stunning roads we put this together. Go out along the back road to Perth and turn right after Tomaknock. At the crossroads turn right and head towards Kinkell Bridge. There is a lovely cake and local good shed on your left just before the Bridge. At Dubheads turn left and look out for a remarkable redbrick chimney. Not see many of those in rural Scotland.

The Stooshie
The back road turns off towards Kinkell Bridge and onward to the ‘Lang Toon’ (Auchterarder). Delivino’s Café is a great place for amazing coffee and cake. Cross the motorway on the flyover and take the backroad to Gleneagles. Not a bad spot for a game of golf, I believe. More quiet bumpy country roads lead you back to Crieff.

To the Shaky Toun
Take the Crieff to Muthill road and up past the golf course and then the most wonderful quiet country roads that open up to mountain views as you approach Comrie. Well known for its earthquakes. A cuppa and cake at Campbells will set you up for the spin back to Crieff on the quiet back road. A wee stop at Strowan Bridge is worth it to see the river levels and a popular local swimming spot.

A Wee Skite Oot
Easy route finding is rewarded by Liam’s café and the best bacon / egg rolls north of Merthyr! This route is ideal for tougher bikes but caution if you have ultra-light set of wheels as there is a couple of very short unpaved sections. Enjoy the St Fillan’s grub and views and return the way you came.
